ABOUT DSRA

DSRA's mission statement is to promote the Country Western lifestyle while raising money for local charities and having fun doing it.

DSRA was founded in 1989 and was part of the Great Plains Rodeo Association until 1993.

The 1st Miss DSRA was Phoebe Cole.

DSRA held IGRA Convention in 1994.

DSRA held their first "Rodeo In The Rock " in 1996.

DSRA held IGRA Rodeo Finals in 1999.

DSRA won the Spirit Stick Award at IGRA Rodel Finals in 2001

DSRA has raised funds for numerous charities such as; Arkansas Aids Foundation, Positive Living, Simply Red, HPWA, Arkansas Make a Wish Foundation, Helping Hands for Little Paws, and Arkansas Children's Hospital.

DSRA is the only Gay Rodeo Association to have a Clubhouse.

DSRA has had two of our members as part of IGRA Royalty. They are Sherry Phillips (Ms IGRA 1st Runner-up 2001) and Julie Brown (Ms IGRA 2004)

Other tidbits:

The first Gay Rodeo was held in Reno Nevada by Phil Ragsdale in 1975. The funds from the Rodeo went to a special charity "The Muscular Dystrophy Organization.

There are 28 Gay Rodeo Associations within IGRA.
